Project summary

Alloy system

4 days Jackson, MI Controls upgraded

Alloys were previously being manually weighed into a tote from the original bunkers. ICD Group introduced accurate electromagnetic vibrating feeders discharging to a movable tote placed on a trolley by forklift.

The trolley contains a weigh scale that totals each alloy addition according to chemistry before the forklift removes and delivers the tote to the furnace. The system improves melt shop safety while increasing the speed and accuracy of additions to each heat.
